Why Cocoa Butter Is Great For Skincare

I am a big fan of Cocoa Butter. I have been using it on and off for years. Each period of time that I have used Cocoa Butter, I always get the same amazing results. Smoother, softer and well moisturized skin.

So what exactly is Cocoa Butter? I looked it up online and this is what I found.

Cocoa butter, also called theobroma oil, is a light-yellow vegetable fat that comes from cocoa beans. Producers ferment, dry, roast, strip, and press cocoa beans to extract cocoa butter (www.webmd.com).

In my opinion, I feel that Cocoa Butter has been, and still is,  one of the best skin butters to use. I love the way it smells. To me it smells just like chocolate and the smell is not loud or overpowering. That says a lot to me because I do not like any products with strong smells. I prefer the softer fragrances.

I find that the solid form of Cocoa Butter works just as well as the whipped cocoa butter. But it is the whipped cocoa butter that I prefer to use because it is much easier to work with. It dissolves better when I rub the Cocoa Butter between my hands before applying it to my skin. The whipped cocoa butter goes on more smoothly than the solid form.

Being that I have sensitive combination skin, I have to be careful with what I put on my skin. The days of experimenting with my skin are over. I am pretty much in tune with what works for my skin. Cocoa Butter just happens to be a product I can trust with my skin.

I also like the fact that Cocoa Butter is a natural product. When it is compared to other skin products, as far as I know, it's not filled with any harmful ingredients. That is a plus for me.

After doing a little bit more research, it turns out that Cocoa Butter has quite a few health benefits. These same benefits convinced me even more that there was no need to compromise my skin by using unfamiliar products. I believe that natural products like Cocoa Butter will always be a win/win.

I will continue to use Cocoa Butter as a natural skincare product because:

1. Cocoa Butter Contains Vitamin E:

Cocoa butter is a decent source of vitamin E, which benefits your body in many ways. Vitamin E supports vision, reproduction, and the health of your brain, skin, and blood (www.webmd.com)

This previous statement proves the point to me even more, that natural products, are just so much better to use because of the ingredients they contain. WebMD stated that "Cocoa Butter is a decent source of vitamin E" (n.d.). I am already familiar with Vitamin E and I know what it has already done for my skin. For me, this provides additional proof to substantiate the fact that Cocoa Butter is a natural healing product.

2. Cocoa Butter Can Be Used As A Skin Moisturizer:

The fat in cocoa butter creates a protective barrier that holds in moisture and prevents your skin from drying. (www.webmd.com).

This statement explains fully why my skin stays so well moisturized for the majority of each day that I use it. I also have to agree because as long as I use Cocoa Butter, it will keep my skin from drying out.

3. Cocoa Butter Contains Healing Properties For The Skin:

The rich moisture content and protective oil-based nature of cocoa butter eases itching and allows the skin to heal after a flare-up. (www.webmd.com).

I know from experience that Cocoa Butter helped my skin recover from the breakouts, dryness and allergic reactions. It would soothe the itchiness which would in turn allow my skin to heal.

4. Cocoa Butter Protects Skin Against Sun Damage:

The phytochemicals in cocoa butter may protect against skin damage from harmful UV rays and lower your risk of skin disease (www.webmd.com).

I cannot say with certainty that the above statement is true. But if it is true, that would explain why at times (especially during the summer) my skin could be hot and at the same time, my skin would not burn while being exposed to the sun.

To be honest, I am so glad I made the right decision by going back and using Cocoa Butter. I am also glad that I decided to research more about this product because I learned what's in it, its healing properties, and how it can be used.

I hope that you have gained a better insight on the benefits one can gain using Cocoa Butter.

Until Next Time, Enjoy Living and Loving Life.
