Why Your Blog Needs A Privacy Policy

Why Your Blog Needs A Privacy Policy

A Privacy Policy explains information that is collected and how that information is used when you visit and view content on any website. Most of the time you don't have to worry about it, but there is nothing wrong with taking that extra step to make sure that it is safe for you to spend time on that site.

I also believe that when a Privacy Policy is in place, it shows that you are being transparent to all readers, viewers, or visitors. By having the policy on your website also shows that you are giving the opportunity for others to see the privacy policy for themselves.

Who Is Responsible For This Website?

That is a question you need to know the answer to. You should make sure you find out who owns or what business owns the blog or website you are on. You also need to know where that person or business resides just in case you need to contact someone.

What Type of Information Is Collected and How Is It Used?

The type of information most blogs and websites collect are as follows:

  • Email Addresses
  • First and Last Names
  • Social Media Profiles
  • Social Media Information
  • Comments from Readers
The purpose of gathering this information is to follow the actions of viewers, readers, and shoppers. The information is often used to get a better understanding of visitors and for the improvement of marketing.

How Is the Information of Viewers and Readers Protected?

When it comes to blogs, most of the time it belongs to one person. Oftentimes, blogs are usually hosted on some of the best servers that are relatively safe to use. Most blogs are mostly SSL certified (SSL Certificate) which means that the blogs and their data should be safe. As far as other larger websites are concerned, the same should be applied to them as well.

If you don't feel safe on any blog or website, click off immediately and check your phone, computers, and or laptops and ensure that you are still safe and no viruses are detected.

How Is Information Deleted?

Most readers and viewers can simply stop commenting, visiting, they can delete or request to delete their accounts, and they can send an email requesting their information to be deleted and it should be deleted.

Where Is The Contact Information?

Many blogs and websites include a contact page that should list a variety of ways to contact someone or business. If it is not easily found, you can do a search online for contact information, the majority of the time that information should show up.

How Are The Cookies Used?

Cookies are files that get created when you are visiting websites. They are stored by that person or business in order to create a better online experience. In a way that makes a lot of sense. Do you really want to keep logging in each time you visit the same site? If websites do not keep this type of information, you will have to log in every time. That can somewhat aggravate the online experience before it has even started.

What About Opting-Out of The Privacy Policy?

Most of the time, all viewers, readers and shoppers information may be disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes. All viewers, readers, and shoppers should have the right to opt out of such disclosures at any time by simply contacting the individual or business.

There you have it. This is all the reasons why I feel a Privacy Policy should be in place.

Until Next Time. Enjoy Loving and Living Life.
